There are differing opinions on where Sour Diesel was first bred. Some say that it was bred in New York, while others maintain that it was first bred in California. This early 1990s bud was created by combining potent and popular parent strains Chemdawg 91 and Super Skunk, giving birth to a fan favorite Sativa-dominant hybrid with a legendary history. Sour Diesel is recognized on the cannabis awards circuit as one of the best strains of all time and actually made it on the High Times list of best ever cannabis varieties. With dozens of major award victories under its belt, Sour Diesel is a huge hit among cannabis enthusiasts who enjoy the old-school flavor and aroma as well as the potent high of the Sour Diesel strain. The 30-year-old strain has become more popular in recent years since the legalization of cannabis in some states and countries.

Description

More About Our Sour Diesel Seeds And How To Grow Them

Sour Diesel is internationally known for its potent and pungent aroma and flavor. With strong diesel notes, it is as close as you can get to mid-90s marijuana. The incredibly complex flavor features notes of citrus, skunk, and a tangy, fuel-like taste that lingers long after you have finished enjoying it. As you ignite the flower of this strain, the aroma will change the deeper you get. Towards the end, the diesel and skunky aroma will give way to hints of pine and spice. If you aren’t an experienced cannabis smoker, the taste of this bud can be a little harsh, but to those who enjoy a full-bodied flavor, Sour Diesel is a premium choice that true cannabis connoisseurs love.

Dominant Terpenes in Sour Diesel

Sour Diesel’s gassy and skunky flavor and similar aroma are created by its dominant terpenes. Its terpene profile is what gives the strain its specific flavors and scents, like pine and citrus. The science behind this strain is familiar, and a better understanding of the genetics of the strain can help you choose the right flavor and aroma profiles for your tastes. This strain features Myrcene, also known as “The Mother of All Terpenes”, which gives it an earthy scent a flavor. Caryophyllene, which is commonly found in cinnamon and black pepper, gives off a spicy and peppery flavor and aroma. There is also Limonene in the complex terpene profile of this strain. You can find Limonene in citrus fruits and cannabis. Limonene is known for helping to quell anxiety and can improve lung function.

Energetic Sativa

Although the strain is Sativa-dominant, it still boasts some minimal Indica effects on the user. When enjoying this strain, you will feel an initial rush of energy and a feeling of being uplifted that is thoroughly enjoyable. The cerebral effects are stimulating and motivating, while the physical effects are calm and relaxing. Because the strain leans more towards the Sativa effects, it is a good choice for wake-and-bake smoke sessions. It is also a solid choice if you are a medicinal user looking to alleviate stress and anxiety. If you have trouble with muscle stiffness and pain or struggle with appetite, then Sour Diesel is a great choice for your specific needs. Even if you smoke before work, Sour Diesel can help with focus and concentration, as well as help you be more talkative and engaging in social situations.

Dusty, Resin-Coated Buds

Not only is Sour Diesel a top choice for true cannabis fans, but it also produces hefty yields when grown under the correct conditions. A massive hit among folks that enjoy old-school cannabis varieties, Sour Diesel has a massive 26% THC content. If you are growing your cannabis indoors, you can expect to harvest around 500 grams per square meter. If you grow your bud outdoors, then you can anticipate harvesting up to 700 grams per plant. It takes 60-70 days to complete flowering if you grow your plants indoors. If you were to plant your seeds in late Spring, you should be ready to harvest around the end of October. Dialing in the proper conditions indoors will help you grow a huge harvest of trichome-covered, skunky buds. Growing this strain outdoors requires more time and effort, but if under the correct conditions, you should be able to harvest dank and aromatic buds.

Ideal Conditions For Growing Sour Diesel Seeds

Sour Diesel cannabis plants are tricky to grow and should only be taken on by experienced growers. This strain grows very tall and can reach heights of well over 6 feet, which means it requires a lot of vertical grow space. Sour Diesel performs better indoors than outdoors, like most cannabis strains, but will grow similarly to an indoor plant if you have access to a greenhouse. While some cultivators prefer to grow in natural sunlight and fresh air similar to that of California in the summer, others prefer the more predictable, controlled environment of growing indoors. Ideally, the temperature should be between 70 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit, with relative humidity between 30-60%. If you are going to grow this strain indoors, you will need to replicate the warm and humid climate to make these plants thrive. If your local weather is similar to these conditions, your crop will perform exceptionally outdoors. However, setting up your grow inside will help you keep the right lighting, humidity, and temperature throughout the grow. Topping, Low-stress training (LST), and pruning methods are ideal for this cannabis strain. These methods will help adjust the canopy to allow light and air to reach every level of the plant, promoting healthy growth from top to bottom. Because Sour Diesel grows tall, it will require routine trimming and pruning to keep the plants at a manageable size.

Had to dial back nutes a little early flower, but once I did, it took off. Real smooth finish.

Got a nice energetic effect from it. Great for daytime use and didn’t crash after.

I’ve been chasing a daytime smoke that won’t make me anxious or sleepy — this one nailed it. Ran a single plant indoors under a Mars Hydro TS1000. It didn’t need much fuss. I topped once and let it spread naturally. Smelled strong during mid-bloom, almost like diesel fumes with citrus peel. Harvested at 10 weeks and dried for 12 days. The high hits fast and clears the mind without weighing me down. Perfect for cleaning the house or going on a walk.

Oh nooo it exceeded my expectations, plants grew bushes and towers. It managed variations in temperature really nicely. Outdoor growers would find tremendous use for this strain..

Grew two in living soil, no bottled nutrients. They handled training like champs and stayed manageable in height. I had to trim a lot of lower leaves to improve airflow around week 5. No pest issues, and both finished at about 10 weeks. Great bag appeal, sticky resin, and a potent, heady effect. My only complaint is that one seedling took a little longer to establish roots early on.

This was my first time ordering, and I was pleasantly surprised by how fast the shipping was. The packaging was clean and discreet, and customer support answered my question about lighting within hours. Germed all five seeds using the paper towel method — 100% success. Plants were uniform and didn’t require much defoliation. I used organics in 3-gallon pots and the smell in flower was strong and skunky. Effects lean cerebral and keep you sharp. Not sleepy at all. Definitely ordering again.

5/5 plants understood little errors. All things considered, a decent strain

One of my seeds came a little pale and didn’t germ. The other two sprouted and took off. I ran them outdoor in 10-gallon fabric pots and they both turned into massive bushes. You’ll definitely need trellising or stakes — colas got heavy late in flower. Smell is intense and funky, so maybe not the best for stealth growers. Yield was fantastic, and the smoke has that electric buzz people talk about. Slight germ issue, but otherwise very happy.

This one was the loudest plant in the tent. Smelled like gas and grapefruit all through flower.

I had two of these going in 5-gallon pots with coco under LED. Both sprouted quickly and shot up fast. They stretched like crazy during the flip, so I suggest topping and some solid training early. By week 8 of flower, the smell was wild — like citrusy fuel with a sour edge. One pheno was slightly fluffier but still potent. After curing, the smoke was super clear-headed and uplifting. I just wish the buds were denser across both plants.

Grew one plant in a 2×2. Surprised how well it filled the space. Frosty, loud, and dense.

This one took me back. That classic fuel-and-lemon zest funk hit me right when I cracked the jar. It stretched a bit more than I planned for, but I had the vertical space. Strong effects, very energizing — probably too much for a bedtime strain unless you’ve got a serious tolerance.

Growing it was easy; the plants grew really tall, hence I had to keep up with cutting.

maybe i should but next a charcoal filter since the scent during flowering is really intense. The yield was solid and germination was flawless.
