Trainwreck

This strain may be old-school, but it’s a great pick for newer growers. While some cannabis strains can be challenging to cultivate, Trainwreck’s resilience and forgiving nature make for an easier growing experience. 

Whether you’re just starting out, are a seasoned grower, or are somewhere in between, the following tips can be helpful for maximizing this strain’s yields. 

Provide your Trainwreck plants with physical support: Trainwreck is known for its vigorous, sativa-dominant stretch. Providing sturdy support, such as stakes or a trellis, helps prevent branches from bending or snapping under the weight of its resinous buds.

Keep an eye on humidity and ventilation:  Dense, resin-rich buds are typically considered a good thing, as they indicate a potent and healthy plant. One small drawback of this trait, however, is that robust flowers tend to attract excess moisture. If your growing environment is excessively humid, it can be helpful to keep in mind that the Trainwreck strain can be somewhat susceptible to mold.

Thankfully, this issue can be easily sidestepped by keeping an eye on humidity levels using an instrument called a hygrometer, and if necessary, a dehumidifier. 

Looking for a more low-tech choice? Try fans. Oscillating fans work well for smaller, indoor growing spaces, while larger setups may require a box fan. The key is to provide your plants with plenty of fresh, clean air. 

Prune your plants to enhance light penetration:  Regular pruning and defoliation can help your Trainwreck plants reach their full potential. By strategically and lightly pruning your crop, you can help light reach the lower portions of the plants, which in turn, can help trigger the photosynthesis process, and reduce the risk of moisture buildup all at once.
