More About Our Starburst Seeds And How To Grow Them
Starburst has an out-of-this-world flavor and aroma profile. Starburst is a parent strain to multiple cannabis varieties, but the OG Starburst boasts a layered and complex flavor and aroma. Its sweet and sour aroma features notes of citrus and fruit combined with pine and diesel. Similar to the scent, the flavor resembles fruity candy that has been dipped in diesel and spice. With all of these different notes and hints of spice, it is no wonder that flavor fans flock to the flower. Simply breaking apart the harvested buds will release a pungent aroma that is as enticing as it is skunky. That diesel-like flavor and aroma are common in older marijuana strains, and old-school cannabis enthusiasts absolutely love the aftertaste of this bud.
Dominant Terpenes in Starburst
Starburst’s flavor is incredibly pungent and sweet, and is created by the dominant terpenes within its genetic makeup. Its terpene profile is what gives the strain its specific flavors and scents, like fruits and diesel. The science behind this strain is incredibly complex, and a better understanding of the genetics of the strain can help you choose the right flavor and aroma profiles for your tastes. Myrcene is one of the most dominant terpenes in Cherry Runtz and is known as the “Mother of All Terpenes”. Pinene, which has an earthy and pine-like flavor, can be found in pine needles and conifer trees. You can find Limonene in Starburst as well as the rinds of citrus fruits. Limonene gives off a citrus smell and flavor and can also help with anxiety and improve lung function when found in cannabis. The other terpenes within Starburst’s genetic makeup are Humulene, Beta-Caryophyllene, and Bisabolol.
Evenly-Balanced Buds
Starburst is an evenly balanced hybrid that boasts the best effects from its Indica and Sativa genetics. Most consumers maintain that the buzz you get from this strain leans a little more towards the Sativa side. You will feel relaxed yet energized physically then mentally. The uplifting high pairs perfectly with the focus you get almost immediately after enjoying Starburst. If you are a creative type, then Starburst will help ignite that creativity and is proven beneficial to artists and musicians. Ideal for daytime highs and wake-and-bake smoke sessions, Starburst is great at easing aches and pains and creating a happy mood. At the very end of your high, you will feel tired and sleepy, as it helps you get to bed faster than a few milligrams of melatonin. The side effects of this strain are mild and appear in the form of cottonmouth and the munchies. It wouldn’t hurt to have some snacks handy in the event that the hunger hits you while enjoying Starburst marijuana.
Bigger Buds
Starburst plants produce buds that are large and bright green. The pungent aroma and flavor of this strain make it a huge hit within the cannabis community. If you are growing your cannabis indoors, you can expect to harvest between 220-680 grams. If you grow your bud outdoors, then you can anticipate harvesting 450-1800 grams per plant. Its flowering time is about average, taking around 55-70 days to complete if you grow your plants indoors. If you were to plant your seeds in late Spring, you should be ready to harvest around the beginning to the end of October. Dialing in the proper conditions indoors will help you grow massive yields of super-potent buds. It doesn’t matter where you choose to grow your plants because both indoor and outdoor grows produce pungent and potent buds.
Ideal Conditions For Growing Starburst Seeds
Starburst cannabis plants are easy to grow for first-time cultivators. If you have experience cultivating your own cannabis plants, then you should have no issues growing Starburst plants to completion. These plants grow somewhat tall and can reach maximum heights of 7 feet, which means you’ll need to provide ample vertical room for these plants to fully grow. Starburst plants perform better outdoors than they do indoors. Outdoor plants will grow similarly to indoor plants if you have access to a greenhouse grow environment where the climate can be controlled. While some cultivators prefer to grow their cannabis plants in natural sunlight and fresh air, others prefer the more predictable and easy-to-manipulate indoor growing climate. Whether you grow indoors or outdoors, you are going to need a climate that is similar to the Mediterranean. Ideally, the temperature should be between 70 and 82 degrees Fahrenheit. The relative humidity should be between 40% and 50%. If you are going to grow this strain indoors, you will need to replicate the warm and semi-humid climate these plants are naturally used to. If your local weather is similar to its ideal conditions, your crop will perform exceptionally well outdoors. However, setting up your grow inside or in a greenhouse will help remove outdoor variables from the equation. Most experienced growers recommend utilizing the Sea of Green (SOG) training method to help increase yields and promote healthy growth. This strain is resilient and features a resistance to mold and common outdoor pests.

I’ve had problems with other seedbanks sending immature seeds, but these were all dark, firm, and healthy looking. Germinated three in a shot glass soak + paper towel, and all popped within 36 hours. Definitely one of the smoothest starts I’ve had.

Started three seeds and got two solid phenos, one slightly taller with more internodal space. I let them go natural — no training — and still got dense mid-size colas. Smell was all sweet candy and grapefruit zest, especially after week 5. Had to defoliate more than usual to get airflow through the middle. Minor potassium signs near the end, but didn’t affect the smoke. Yield was decent at 110g from each. Hits clean and energetic with just enough body melt.

All seeds germinated using a shot glass soak then straight into rapid rooters. Growth was slow for the first week, then exploded under a SF2000. Responded well to topping and low-stress training — created a wide canopy that filled my 3×3 tent evenly. The smell reminded me of citrus Skittles with a sour punch. A touch of tip burn near harvest, probably from pushing nutes late. Harvested 143g. Post-cure, it’s smooth, fruity, and surprisingly clear-headed for how sticky it came out.

Germed in paper towel, transferred to soil mix with worm castings. Took off strong and stayed short without topping. Lights were 18″ the whole grow, no stretch issues. Terps were crazy by week 6 — like fresh juice and gas. Needed cal-mag twice during veg, then sailed through flower. Flushed 10 days, colors came out deep orange and pink. Final cure made it taste like tangy fruit with creamy notes. Pulled 127g from one. Buzz is creative, not overwhelming.
